This season Liberty has teamed up with some of our favorite British icons to bring us unique collaborative pieces across all product areas.

Of course there are the usual suspects who you would naturally assume would be selected for such a team up, such as Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Barbour and Tom Dixon.

But more interesting are the unique pieces designed by the like of Helena Bonham Carter (actress), John Snow (UK newsreader) and Rick Stein (UK Chef) whose love of cooking fish was translated into a contemporary fish chandelier and bed side lamp.

The line also includes a range of silk bathrobes from British institution Claridges and famous names from the art world such as Turner Prize winner Grayson Perrie have also come on board to celebrate all things British!

As one would expect all the pieces are beautifully crafted but naturally come with the Liberty price tag, however the British Fashion Council have contributed a set of individually designed post cards designed from the key names in British Fashion such as Michael Van Der Ham, Louise Gray, Thomas Tait and Sibling to offer a perhaps more “affordable” option.

Liberty always seems to provide us with a great incentive to visit the store, but this unique event combined with a once in a lifetime opportunity to win an original work created by your favorite National Treasure, makes it undoubtedly unmissable.

And furthermore, what make this particular collaboration so unique is not simply the worlds of art, fashion, media and food and drink colliding – it’s also the fact that with each purchase, your money goes to your “treasures” nominated charity!

What could be more of an incentive to part with your hard earned cash?

I know shopping can be a guilty pleasure but for once enjoy the pleasure as you have a GOOD REASON TO SPLURGE on these delightful pieces – guilt free!

The National treasures already and exclusively at Liberty and on www.liberty.co.uk

Its that time of the year again when all fashionista’s wait with baited breath for the High Street/ Designer collaboration of the year.
I think we all know what I am talking about right?
Yes, Italian edgy bling-bling guru Versace and the famous and affordable Swedish retailer H&M have joined forces to bring us this years most talked about collaboration.

H&M creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch and Donatella Versace have been working really hard together to bring us some stylish affordable clothes made from luxurious fabrics that totally embody the spirit of Versace!
Personally I am loving the Hawaiian Tropic leggings and boob tube, the only thing missing is a St Tropez backdrop and a Mojito in hand

So ladies its time to set those alarms no later than 5.30 to ensure our place in the queue.
I think we ALL remember the frenzied descent on H & M last year for the Lanvin collaboration; arriving at the store after 9am is simply NOT an option!

And if we are truly die-hard fans, we may even consider taking a sleeping bag and coffee flask to camp out on the pavement, you think I am joking?

AND girls, if we don’t want to overshadow our other halves in our stunning new party wear over the festive season, rest assured as Donatella has thought of everything.

The Versace range also includes a capsule range for our beau’s including crazy/vintage inspired tees, off set with tailored pieces, like the must have tuxedo jacket!

This is edgy and chic and WE LOVE IT… But be quick, it won’t last for long!!

As they say “ you snooze YOU LOSE!! “

In stores from the 17th of November in the UK

The Beauty and the Beast

What is better than some fur to keep you stylish and cosy at the same time? And with all the nice faux-fur pieces that you can find this even can be a guilty-free solution. If it’s too warm inside to keep your jacket on don’t worry because there is enough animal prints to keep you wild and sexy for the all winter! The new favourite this season: the Dalmatian !

Shine on !
As New Year eve is approaching the sequins and the shiny ones are coming back. Be ready for some bright colours because this year you will have more choices than just gold and silver! From vintage 20′s-like mid-dresses, to mini-skirts with huge scale appliqué sequins, this is about looking playful and fun. Match with sleek hair dos. Don’t do the 80′s disco though!

Be my Pixie…

Meet the post Mad Men effect! After the 50′s here come the 60′s (also way easier to wear!). Put on your shift dress and your Peter Pan blouse collar; match it with a headband or some baby doll like lashes for a total outfit. From day to night, just swap your loafers for some statement heels.

Ethnic heritage If it’s good enough for Proenza Schouler, it will also be for us! Aztec is the ethnic trend this Fall. Bright at Topshop or settle at Whistles, this is anyway a good way to wrap-up ourselves to stay warm in style this season. For the most adventurous ones create a combo by mixing the prints, the others will choose black!

BurgundyBurgundy is THE colour you have to wear this season. Buy a winter key-piece such as a shift coat or a boy suit or play safer and go for a statement necklace or some shoes! The texture also does matter, for a real perfect fashion choice: combine Burgundy and velvet or woven leather. You can even wear it on your nails or lips.

Chunky knit

If next summer will be all about embellishment… This winter you will not survive without your piece of chunky knit! From boyfriend cardigan with leather elbow patches to granny jumper, the bigger is the better. Do not buy it too small and match it with a sheer maxi skirt or a pair of sleek leather trousers and some killer heels.

The fashion carnival of the last month is slowly drawing to an end this week in Paris. However what a trip it’s been, from New York to London this season hasn’t failed to disappoint.

For many of us London fashionista’s who are about to enter another six months of rain and gloomy dark days, the thought of all the new yummy collections from the SS12 catwalks should at least provide a sorbet and sherbet coloured light to look forward to at the end of the tunnel!

Here are some of the highlights from LFW

MARY KATRANZOUThe big question on everyone’s lips was ‘How could Mary Katranzou possibly beat her previous works of art?’

Well the answer was simple, she simply didn’t try too, and instead this season took a slightly different direction.

The bold prints and colours were of course still the anchor of the collection, but this season the looks were a lot less architectural and instead the collection seemed to have a much more commercial element to it.

New silhouettes also provided a new dimension to the collection with trousers making a debut in the line.

Katranzou referenced nature with the repetitive flower field and enlarged fish scale prints were strangely complimented by crushed car prints inspired by the work of John Chamberlain.

On the “WOWometer” perhaps not as jaw dropping as past collections, but we must remember that only the more commercial and more accessible pieces pay the bills!

JONATHAN SAUNDERSThe only was I could describe this show would be a sorbet delight! Set in a futuristic office space in the heart of Paddington, the scene was set for one of the best shows of LFW.

The looks, the models, the setting and not to mention the iconic 80’s track “Love on a real train” everything just worked.

A 50’s theme carried on when his resort collection left off, full skirts teamed with twin sets and oversized shirts.

Some of the looks reminded me of a modern day Sandra Dee from cult movie Greece, where 50’s prom style had been given a futuristic preppy twist

The graphic digital prints were still a main stay of the show however the infusion of such mouth-watering sorbet colour took them to another dimension.

Saunders who may previously have been know for his show stopping evening gowns has effortlessly infused his aesthetic into chic wearable pieces that although may have more commercial appeal, still seem to embody that unmistakable Saunders signature.

MULBERRY The Mulberry show is undoubtedly one of the highlights of LFW, if the clothes or bags don’t excite you then head down just to take in the array of A listers.

The likes of Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo and Alex Chung the brand ambassador, all took centre stage at what I thought was Mulberry’s strongest RTW collection to date.

Festival chic seemed to be a theme throughout the collection, while Emma Hill the brand’s creative director confirmed that the strong presence of the parker coat, a kagool was infact a tribute to the good old fashioned British weather!

Perhaps the first collection in history that has celebrated the rain!

As always the collection was fun, flirty and tongue in cheek and lets us not forget to mention the adorable little bulldogs, the Mulberry mascot that always makes an appearance on the catwalk!

My own love affair has always been with the bags, but this year I think it may also be with the clothes. Although that is probably one love affair my bank balance could firmly do without.

CHRISTOPHER KANEChristopher Kane’s show was just effortless and yet again, his aesthetic seems to morph into something new and fresh but still with that signature Kane underpinning which always brings the look together.

Some of Kane’s pieces with the folds and pleats looked like beautiful pieces of origami as they came down the catwalk.

My personal favourites were the hand sewn 3-d floral organza pieces; you can only imagine the amount of hours gone into producing these little work of art.

Kane has proved himself yet again to be a fashion chameleon, which is a hard challenge to pull off as a schizophrenic approach to design can often leave people feeling you have not yet found your niche.

But as always Kane pulled it off, and it seems a much more sophisticated and refine approach is key to his designs these days, especially when you compare it to his dance hall style debut collection.

Kane has yet again proved he is very “able!!”

With so many great brands on offer at London Fashion week, it takes more than just great product to stand out.
These are a few brand that took our fancy over LFW for their creative approach to decorating their stands!

HERMIONE DE PAULA www.hermionedepaula.comWe loved HDP woodland inspired installation at Somerset House. The perfect backdrop to such magical and whimsical prints!

CLEO B www.cleob.comBack to the 90’s was the theme of hot new London based footwear designer Cleo B.

We loved the “cassette tape” heals, quite literally a new take on the expression “put on your dancing shoes”!

PAPERSELF EYELASHES www.paperself.comWe are really digging the paper eyelash extensions from PaperSelf. We also loved their super size stand at LFW, not only did it look great you could also line up to get your own lashes glued on for the day!

This brand is literally taking the fashion world by storm and testament to their individuality and success in collaboration with the V & A museum in London.

LU FLUX www.luflux.com We were immediately drawn to the cocktail umbrellas on LU FLUX’s stand! (Although anything cocktail related has instant appeal in my book!)

In keeping with the Hawaiian ‘Aloha’ theme of her collection this season, the cocktail umbrellas and tropical color palette totally set the scene.

Millies Cookies, one of the events sponsors had also chosen Lu as one of their stand out designers and in her honor had created a giant Millie’s cookie for her!

The stand, the collection and the cookies all worked a treat; infact the only think that could have added to the Hawaiian theme would have been a few Pina Coladas.

Maybe next time

By Karen HarriesTataNaka, a Georgian twin duo have been a favourite brand of mine for many years, their creativity and inspiration hold no bounds and this season they did not disappoint with their eclectic mix of beautiful prints and silhouettes.

The invitation to their London Fashion Week presentation was already a good sign: a dance card where Tata-Naka invited us to four exclusive dances to showcase their new silhouettes and prints for the season.

Instead of the usual runway format, the new collection was executed in the form of a live photo shoot styled by friend and also Russian Harper’s Bazaar editor Natalia Alavardian.

The gathering crowd were made up of stylist, bloggers, buyers, fashion editors, friends and family, all of which were invited to watch the live shoot unfold over three hours.

This presentation was inspired by the work of the German choreographer Pina Bausch and watching it felt more like a theatre presentation, not a fashion show.

Models were encourages to climb on the chairs, pose, and dance in an attempt to recreate iconic poses from Pena Bausch’s work to the soundtrack of classics such as Whitney Houston ‘I Wanna dance with somebody’, Beach Boys ‘Dance, Dance Dance’

The choreography was fun and playful and dramatic poses were complimented with falling rose petals, vintage music while adorable bottles of homemade TataNaka cloudy lemonade were handed out by TataNaka clad waitresses for light refreshment.

A perfect show to reminded me of what fashion should always be about – fun, creativity and a sense of humor.

J’Adore!!
